The aim of this research is to investigate the image of Moscow city in romantic movies during Khrushchev Thaw. The relevance of this topic relies on the significance of the Thaw period for urbanization in USSR. To achieve the aim, I use interpretative content analysis, which allows to name vital codes for representation of Moscow. The overall image is the following. Moscow is represented by The Kremlin and Seven Sisters on the one hand, and on the other hand open windows shows the connection between private and public spheres. It was nearly impossible during previous periods. In Moscow some construction is always going on, but no on the expense of the nature. Public transport in Moscow is very developed, which is used by people to commute, not to see beautiful underground stations for example. Nevertheless, strolling aspect is still important for citizens. Spending free time in a variety of ways is becoming more important for citizens, as well as consuming. Both of these aspects would be difficult to see in movies from previous periods.
