In the postmodern reality, science is forced to fight for a place in the sociocultural public discourse and mass consciousness. There is a communication gap between scientific communities and non-scientific audiences in the information field and mass culture. The present study is devoted to elucidating the prospects of using audio podcast as a format that helps to bridge the communication gap between the scientific community and the general public. Through a series of expert interviews with representatives of the scientific community and the creators of audio podcasts and in-depth interviews with ordinary Internet users and the subsequent analysis of the data obtained, an attempt will be made to answer the question of whether an audio podcast can be used as an effective tool for modern scientific communications with external audiences. The results of this study will help to expand and deepen understanding of the development trends of both scientific communications in particular, and the tools of modern communications in general.
