Determining the factors that are associated with student performance will improve the quality of education, and a shortage of qualified personnel. The research examines a complex of factors that may be associated with the academic success of students, as well as affect the success of the future trajectory of student learning at the university. The study analyzed undergraduate students of the educational program "Economics" of the Higher School of Economics - St. Petersburg. The main methods of analysis in this study are exploratory factor analysis and linear regression. The main results are as follows: 1) students who live in dormitories have lower academic performance compared to students who live in rented housing; 2) The USE as a predictor of academic success turned out to be significant for first-year students; 3) a positive relationship was found between the internal orientation to the goal, self-efficacy and academic performance of students; 4) mathematical anxiety for three-year students is differently associated with assessment in core disciplines. These results can serve as a basis for further work with students of the educational program. In addition, the found connections can become the object of attention of researchers of secondary and higher education.
