Impetuous development of Information Technologies has noticeably influenced the field of education in the recent years. Universities began to introduce various systems into the educational process for convenient communication and resource exchange. At the same time, there is a problem of composing an individual curricula due to the introduction of a system of variable disciplines in universities. To solve this problem, recommendation systems were introduced, which help students to choose such disciplines. The research is aimed at improving the functionality of the prototype of the recommendation system for variable disciplines in the Business Informatics program. The developed system is based on the Business Informatics ontology and uses the SWRLAPI Drools Engine plugin, which includes the Drools business rules management system.
