This work is devoted to the study of an integrated approach to assessing cities in terms of both the quality of life of citizens and the quality of the urban environment. In this work, the definition of the concept of the quality of urban life is given and its main features and differences from other related terms are determined. Also, within the framework of the study, the existing foreign approaches to assessing the quality of urban life were analyzed, and related indices operating in Russia were identified. Based on this, a number of indicators were identified that characterize the quality of urban life in all aspects that it includes. In addition, on the basis of our own methodology of the quality-of-life index, an assessment was made of both St. Petersburg and the cities included with it in the same population group. As a result of assessing both objective and subjective characteristics of St. Petersburg, an SNW analysis was carried out, which resulted in a number of recommendations for improving the quality of urban life. Key words: quality of urban life, quality of life, urban environment, improving the quality of life, urban management.
