The research uses various methods of textual analysis based on the theoretical background proposed by structuralists and post-structuralists. This study demonstrates which role the reality effect plays in the novels of D. Keyes, what artistic means are used for his creation, and what changes the effect of reality can make in the reader's perception of the plot and the main characters in works of different genres that bring up similar topics.
