Using the history the Russian State Archive of Economics as a case-study, the logic of (post) Soviet archiving is explored through the description of the uniqueness of archival policies and professional practices of archivists, updated during the collapse of the Soviet state system and the prohibition of ideology. In the course of the study, a "map" of the transformation of the concept of "archive" in the humanities and art was drawn up, which made it possible to make visible the change in ideas about the archive and find analytical tools for the historical and ethnographic study of the archival community.
