Nowadays environmental projects were considered unprofitable and requiring subsidies, that is why business and the state have little interest in them, but this study, involving the study of new technologies and successful eco-companies, showed that at our stage of technological development, eco-projects do not just improve the state of the environment, but they can also bring profit to those who implement them. Therefore, the main goal of the work was to form a portfolio of cost-effective and profitable projects for the collection, sorting and recycling solid municipal wastes in the concept of sustainable development in Russia and taking into account Russian conditions. A methodology was drawn up on the basis of which tasks were formed to be performed in the course of writing a thesis. 1. A huge array of literature on sustainable development and recycling of MSW was studied: other research works, scientific articles, dissertations professors of HSE or other universities and other scientific publications 2. The structure of the SMW utilization industry as a whole was considered: how it functions in developed countries and what pace of development shows how it functions in Russia to study the prerequisites-objective grounds for why, where and how it is arranged. 2. Were studied the most advanced companies in this market, again both on the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad, and the specifics of their work. 3. Considered all the main technologies and technological chains that are implemented in this industry. 4. Further, a general methodology was developed for accepting or rejecting projects: profitability indicators, logistics parameters, studying the structure of the benefits of finding portfolios in the project, considering the general technological chain of MSW processing, and more. 5. As a result, on the basis of the entire studied array of information, we selected and considered 4 projects of which 3 were accepted, the key scientific novelty of the research and its task was precisely this. Finally, we have received a pilot portfolio of projects for profitable implementation in Russia, and also developed a strategy for further expansion in this market. This portfolio can be realized by private investors in partnership with any government agencies, or by the government itself to organize a state company engaged in the processing of SMW.
