Young age is an important period in the formation of personality: separation from parents, choice of profession, search for one's own life. Development tasks during this period require constant self-reliance and reflection on their attitudes and values. According to research, the time spent in solitude can be the basis for these processes. However, studies often show the results of being in solitude, and very rarely turn to how a person experiences the need for solitude, how feelings arise and develop in this state. Thus, the purpose of this work is to discover and deepen the understanding of the processes of genesis and dynamics of the phenomenon of the personality's need for solitude in young age in the conditions of the parental family. The methods of data collection and processing were the method of in-depth semi-structured interviews and phenomenological analysis by Georgi. As a result of the analysis, a phenomenological description of the phenomenon was obtained and general and particular components were identified. This study contributes to the theoretical development of the phenomenon of the need for privacy and may be useful for practitioners.
