Recently, gender issues have been actively studied in philology and linguistics. V. G. Belinsky addressed as well this issue in a number of articles. An example of the interest of modern science in this topic is the collection "Gender issues in modern literature" (2010) , the authors of which set the task of re-reading the works of the most famous authors of world literature from a gender point of view. The issues of reflection in the literature of the social and gender roles of men’s and women’s formation, their perception and consolidation in the consciousness of society, remain one of the most burning issues of literary criticism. However, it is too early to speak about drawing up a complete picture of gender issues in Russian literature. I. A. Goncharov’s works have not been sufficiently studied yet from this point of view. The purpose of this work is to study the gender issues in I. A. Goncharov's trilogy "An Ordinary Story", "Oblomov", "The Precipice", although scientists have already started talking about their active presence in his works. Within the framework of the topic, the works of a number of authors, as well as the texts of the writer's novels, were considered and analyzed. The results of the research will contribute to the disclosure of the importance of this topic, and will reveal the evolution of rapidly changing gender relations and ways to implement this topic in the literary texts. Keywords: gender, gender relations, Russian literature, Goncharov, "An Ordinary Story", "Oblomov", "The Precipice".
