In the era of Romanticism, the appeal to the Bible and the early Christian heritage acquired a truly huge scale. Mikhail Lermontov is a representative of Russian romanticism, in whose work the Bible is reflected in the most diverse and profound way: we see both concise images from the book of Genesis, and detailed reflections on the fate of the world and man, inspired by the Apocalypse and the Psalms. This study is a review of all of Lermontov's poems that have the Old Testament and the Gospel as possible sources. In the conclusions of the work, the quantitative relationship between the poems that have Old Testament and Gospel sources is given. The division of the entire body of poems with biblical motifs into several themes makes it possible to analyze which biblical images and meanings are interesting to Lermontov, as well as what author's ideas they illustrate. In the process of analyzing the poems, some actual problems are identified that have not yet been sufficiently studied in Russian and foreign literary studies.
