Student: Veriaeva Kseniia

Supervisor: Evgeny N. Osin

Faculty: Institute of Education

Educational Programme: Measurements in Psychology and Education (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2021

A theoretical and statistical evaluation of implicit theories of motivation and attributions was conducted. The evidence of validity was received through three studies. Study 1 was a qualitative pilot study with 10 open-ended questions in order to obtain the data about any students’ beliefs about motivation. Study 2 was dedicated to developing two scales: Implicit Theories of Motivation Scale and Attributional Style of Motivation Scale. The preliminary evidence of validity was collected on this stage of research. Eventually, Study 3 was conducted in order to confirm previous conclusions. The results demonstrated that scales have poor internal consistency but provided the evidence that implicit theories of motivation can predict satisfaction of life and grades via real motivation.
