Cardiovascular disease is a common cause of death in Russia. According to the Federal State Statistic Service, cardiovascular disease was a leading cause of death in 2019. The given study is carried out as a part of the project initiated by one of the largest Russian oil and gas companies and aims to determine risk factors which lead to the occurrence of myocardial infarction. The sample study consists of respondents aged 18 to 64 who participated in the Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey – HSE in 2010-2019. Risk factors include hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of physical activity, low socioeconomic status, depression and stressful events. Relative Risks, Odds Ratios, Hazard Ratios and their 95% CIs are calculated to assess the influence of risk factors on the development of myocardial infarction. These findings might be applied not only in governmental programs but also at the company level to improve the health of the nation.
