The work is devoted to three time plans of depicting contemporary Russian history in the novel by T.Yu. Kibirov "The General and His Family" (2020). For Kibirov's “historical novel”, no less than the carefully written plot “present” (1970s), the past and future of the title character and his country, fractionally scattered throughout the text, are important. This temporary "trinity" organizes the plot of the historical novel. The work analyzes the author's strategies for the selection of historical material, the temporal organization and composition of the text. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of everyday life and culture (music, cinema, literature). The "Seventies" with their morals, norms, characters are depicted in the novel not in isolation, but in relation to the "big history" of the country. This is served by the chronological "amorphousness" of the time of the "main action", and excursions into the recent happy past of the hero's family (the family past reflects the existence of the country in the second half of the 1950s - in the 1960s), and the biography of the general (history of Russia with 1929, the rise of which from previous events has not been deprived of attention). Signs and pictures of the future, arising mainly in the sphere of the author, are no less important. The novel's "metal-literary character" (the story of its creation revealed in the text, the dotted "literary biography" of the author) reinforces its historicism. The movement of the country's history, according to Kibirov, is inseparable from the movement of literature, which remembers its great past and creatively prolongs it.
