"Tria Sunt": Commented Translation

Tria sunt is a rhetorical treatise („art of poetry and prose”) composed in the second half of the fourteenth century by the anonymous author. The treatise survived “in more than a dozen English manuscripts of the fifteenth century” enjoyed the considerable popularity along with twelth- and thirteenth-century arts of poetry and prose in the times of renaissance of Anglo-Latin rhetoric in late fourteenth-century. Until recent times, Tria sunt was the only Latin art of poetry and prose not having „at least one modern edition” and English translation. This study aims to provide commented Russian translation of the treatise undertaken with the use of critical edition of the treatise with commentaries and English translation provided by Martin Camargo.
