The work is devoted to the development of an index of bicycle attractiveness (Bikeability index) of eight cities in Russia (1 city from each of the federal districts) and their comparative analysis. There were identified four factors for calculation: the safety of the urban environment, the attraction of the environment (density of functions, population and jobs), connectivity and comfort. Safety is calculated on the basis of information about road traffic accidents, the density of functions - points of attraction, network connectivity is assessed using graph theory, and comfort is considered in terms of the presence of green areas and a comfortable slope of the road network. The significance of the factors is determined using a sociological study. The index is calculated by factors using spatial analysis. The index also takes into account the climate factor and its impact on the cycling attractiveness of the environment. In addition, a review of studies on the topic of bicycle attractiveness of cities, the relevance of using a bicycle as a vehicle was carried out.
