This research paper presents a new optics of studying the novels of Boris Vian. The study of the concept of the French literary field of J. Sapiro allowed us to look at the French literature of the 1940s and 1950s from a other angle, to focus on the relationship of writers in literary society, based on their capital – symbolic, cultural. Thus, in order to identify the status of Boris Vian in the literary society (field) of France in the 1940s and 1950s, we analyzed not only his novels, but also the novels of other writers, in order to understand which literary poles they belonged to, which capital they possessed to a greater extent. For a more complete analysis, we also considered the history of the socio-political processes of this period, which is necessary for understanding the context of writing novels. In addition, we analyzed the French periodicals of the 1940s and 1950s, which are participants in the literary field and directly affect the position of writers in this field, as well as in the pole (s).
