Educational Programme: Applied Mathematics (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

At present, outdoor navigation is not a problem due to the maturity of GPS positioning technologies. However, inside buildings traditional positioning systems are not suitable for use due to the loss of satellite signal power. Therefore, alternative approaches to solve the problem of indoor navigation are actively developed. AR (augmented reality) technologies have become available to a wide range of users in recent years due to the spread of smartphones. AR is based on the device’s perception of the environment, which requires high accuracy of positioning and tracking the device in real time. The goal of my project is to solve the problem of pedestrian navigation using AR technologies and computer vision by developing mobile software using modern toolbox for AR and Unity Engine. The results of this work can be practically applied not only to the problems of pedestrian navigation, but also in robotics, autonomous vehicles and IoT (Internet of Things).
