The study examines the impact of the integration of passenger rail transport into the urban transport system in Moscow on the intensity and attractiveness of commercial use of the territories adjacent to railway stations. The article provides an overview of the world experience in studying the effects of the development of public transport infrastructure. The classification of railway transport is also analyzed, and the existing experience of integrating railway transport into the urban transport system is considered. The methodology developed for conducting an empirical study provides the existing experience of determining the intensity and functional diversity of the use of urban areas and examines the impact of the transport system on indicators that characterize such properties of the territory. The empirical study examines the change in the concentration of commercial objects in the territories adjacent to the stations of the Moscow Central Circle and the Moscow Central Diameters, identifies patterns, trends, and causes of certain changes. The study is carried out by methods of spatial analysis using geographic information system. It also provides information on the quantitative indicators of the concentration of commercial objects in the zone of influence of these projects. A comparison and analogy with the situation on the entire territory of Moscow is made. The assessment of the degree of change in the concentration of commercial objects near each station of the projects under consideration is given.
