The present study focuses on the issue of transmission of the personal data to the government. The topic of the research is considered as a part of a wider contradiction between the social value of freedom, which includes individual’s privacy right, and social request for public safety. The study’s aim is to present an overview on what young people in Russia think about disclosing personal data to the state as well as to analyze the possible impact of certain factors on their position. Online survey was chosen as a method to collect the quantitative data and the sample consists of students of Moscow universities.
