Designing the Course «Learning to Learn» for grades 5 and 6

The goal of the learning to learn course design is to create a holistic program based on the evidence-based model of self-regulation learning. The paper considers the problem of the skill “learning to learn” as one of the basic skills of the XXI century, description of the models of self-regulated learning and models of metacognition as theoretical foundations for designing the course. The paper describes instructional system design models and describes the process and results of the study of the school for which this course is designed, context and references. The choice of the learning model was defined by the context and characteristics of the school, in which there are already a number of regular practices aimed at the skill of “being able to learn”. As a result, the program was designed based on problem-based and experience-based learning models using the principles of David Merrill. Key words: self-regulatory learning, pedagogical design, educational experience design, learning skills.
