The development of modern information technologies has given a great impetus to the development of the Internet community, in which the great deal of received information is transmitted to the reader through social networks and blogs of various authors. The consequence of this is a growing number of blogging authors who use unique ways to grab the attention of their audience. The desire of bloggers to attract the attention of readers or subscribers often prompts blog authors to use the names of famous people, quotes, and sometimes entire works. The precedent phenomena that have begun to be actively used in the Russian community, among the authors of various blogs, arouse interest not only among the majority of subscribers of these communities, but can also serve as an object for research in terms of studying and disclosing the popularity of these phenomena in blogging. All this, in turn, makes it necessary to analyze the use of precedent texts, in our case, blogs. The aim of the work is to study the manifestation of precedent phenomena in the blogs of various authors. This study can serve as a support for larger-scale research thanks to the collected data and the analysis of the blog texts and the synthesis based on the research materials of our own conclusions. The work undoubtedly contributes to the development of modern linguistic research, both in theoretical and practical terms. Within the framework of the study, the following tasks were set: to give the concept of a precedent text, to trace the history of its formation and development, to present a classification of precedent texts; identify signs of precedent texts; identify the concept and features of discourse in blogs; to trace how the precedent manifests itself in blogs. As part of the research work, it was suggested that precedent phenomena that are actively used by blog authors are rapidly developing and for several years now have gone beyond the key texts of Russian culture.
