V. Pelevin’s earlier novels, especially the novel Life of insects are attracting considerable interest due to their complicated and multileveled text organization. Various characters and philosophical ideas in terms of the plot patterns and intertextuality were partly discussed in previous studies (Yanushkevitch, 2003; Vatutina, 2014; Kornev, 1997). However, the comprehensive schema of the novel has received relatively little attention at present. Previous researches were concentrated on particular topics or plot lines, not reflecting the complete image of the text organization. The purpose of this study is to identify the principles of organization of Pelevin’s text by analyzing in three aspects: postmodernism theory, literary traditions and philosophical ideas. Subsequently, the research analyzes and presents the complete and fully-fledged image of the ideological world in Pelevin’s novel Life of insects.
