The importance of blockchain technology is becoming increasingly apparent. While blockchain made its beginnings in the financial sector with the breakthrough of Bitcoin, this technology is being introduced in more and more areas of life and business. Gradually, the supply chain management sector has been conquered by this new technology and has been expanding more and more. The adoption is still ongoing as new areas of application can be found all the time. This is also the case with the idea of unification with a document management system. This system is already tried and tested, but it is still in its infancy in cooperation with a blockchain. Since documents are also generated in the supply chain process, which often has high importance for the entire process, connecting a document management system to a blockchain is necessary to be archived securely and traceably. Therefore, the goal of the research of this thesis is to integrate a blockchain into an existing document management system to enable the storage of documents from the supply chain process. To this end, the following research question is posed: "How can a document management system secure documents via the blockchain and make them accessible to third parties?" To answer this research question, a systematic literature review was first conducted. This provided a list of attributes of a blockchain, which was later used for the expert interviews. This list also served to develop an initial prototype. The prototype is a blockchain integrated into a DMS and is only available for a specific document type. As soon as the blockchain process is triggered, the document attributes are processed via the blockchain. As a result, a success message is issued if the attributes are processed correctly. The analysis results from about 40 evaluated scientific articles were eight criteria, which were also partially completed by the interview partners. These criteria, including all supplemented criteria, were incorporated into the initial version of the prototype. Further research in this area could further develop the developed prototype and practice validation and profitability analysis.
