Year of Graduation: 2022

This master’s dissertation is devoted to the state policy on teaching history in secondary schools in the RSFSR (from 1922 - in the USSR) in the period from 1917 to 1929. The main department in the field of education - the People's Commissariat of Enlightenment (Narkompros) of the RSFSR - actively worked on building the concept of teaching historical science within school education. On the basis of a group of sources (government decrees, documents of the Narkompros, works of Soviet functionaries in the field of pedagogy), we try to understand what the Soviet state was striving for building a policy in the field of teaching history, what problems it faced and how they were solved in the difficult early Soviet period.
