Special Legal Regime of Intellectual Property Objects Created by Artificial Intelligence

Student: Aleksandr Aniskov

Faculty: Faculty of Law

Educational Programme: Jurisprudence (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2023

Relevance of the research. Last year was marked by rapid integration of artificial intelligence technologies into society. Investment funds are investing considerable funds into the development of companies, developing neural networks, online stores are recording a boom of the appearance of books, written with neural network language models, music labels are signing contracts with artificial intelligence platforms as a performer, Californian scriptwriters are organizing strikes demanding to limit the use of autonomous machines in the movie industry, discussions about potential threats of artificial intelligence are becoming widespread. At the same time, law enforcement practice shows that current legislation is outdated for effective legal regulation of self-learning neural network technologies. Relying on a literal interpretation of current regulations, adopted long before the advent of artificial intelligence, courts and government agencies deny legal protection to objects created by modern technology. This situation requires the legal scientific community to develop new concepts with respect to intellectual property rights.
