This paper is dedicated to the features of alignment splits in Shughni (a Pamir language of the Eastern Iranian branch of the Iranian languages). The main body of work can be considered as consisting of two parts united by the common idea of split marking (of subject or object). The first part is dedicated to split intransitivity. In this part, I describe the properties of the category of transitivity in Shughni, how split intransitivity is expressed, and analyze which factors (agentivity, telicity) are more significant for Shughni. I analyze a list of monovalent verbs in Shughni that behave like transitive verbs, compare the features of split intransitivity for complex and simple verbs, describe the factors that influence split marking, and compare the Shughni verb list against lists compiled for other languages. The second part of the work is devoted to differential object marking (DOM) in Shughni. In this work, I continue the research started in my term paper of 2022. The use of DOM in Shughni is not fully grammaticalized, and object marking is formally similar and often confused with other constructions, which I describe separately. I analyze the factors influencing the choice of object marking and make assumptions about why this strategy has become established in a limited number of contexts in Shughni and has not become as regular as in Rushani, Bartangi, or Sarikoli.
