Behavioral Characteristics of Child Centered Play Therapist in Therapy with Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders

At the beginning, I would like to express my gratitude to the teacher, play therapist Sofia Vilkova for her experience, which became the basis for this research, for her involvement in the process and help in directing towards the actual theoretical basis of child-centered play therapy. I also express my gratitude to the clinical psychologist, neuropsychologist Evgeniy Shvedovsky for his sensitive approach to each parent during the interview, high-quality work, openness and research interest. In this work we study the behavior of a play - centered therapist with a child with ASD. The relevance of the this work is has difficulty to have contact between play therapists and children with a diagnosis. The purpose of our study was focus on the verbal and nonverbal behavior of play therapists, which to help the children with autism. In the theoretical part, we studied the growth needs of the child, the idea of ​​growing up from the perspective of the biopsychological model development of brain and the paradigm of mental personality of growth. We also revealed individual growth of brain the children with ASD. Next, we explored non-directive play therapy as a method that considering developmental needs of children with ASD. We also explored facilitate role of the child-centered play therapist and categories of verbal and nonverbal behavior skills. Finally , in our experimental work we identified 16 categories of verbal and nonverbal behavior of a play therapist, some of them were founded in the CCPT, some new important categories for the children with ASD were highlighted from our work. The effectiveness of the categories was confirmed by the Vineland behavior scale, The goals of this study have been achieved.
