Where is a Place, Called Home

In this visual study, the author aims to consider how the theme of the house is reflected in photography of the 19th and 20th centuries. Home is a culturally ideologized space that habitually denotes what is native, one’s own and understandable, and separates this from someone else’s, external, chaotic and unfamiliar. Is this how the house is reflected in the photograph, and how multifaceted is the visual image of the house?
