Relation between ICT Usage and Professional Social Capital

This study was aimed to provide a definition for professional social capital, as well as define its components, such as trust, values and competences. The research investigated how PSC is interrelated with diverse ICT tools. Current research analyses previously conducted studies on interrelation between social capital, its sustenance and development, along with its interrelation with ICT use. The current study has defined how professional social capital and ICT use are interrelated, as well as provided an overview on the effect of diversity of ICT use for general and professional purposes across different age groups. The results of the research indicated that diversity of ICT usage among older generations, as well as ICT usage for communication purposes, such as use of a smartphone and social media among younger generations are positively related to PSC. Moreover, it has been found that ICT use for general purposes among the older generation, as well as ICT use for professional purposes are positively related to PSC.
