The group assembled in the second regular meeting

The seminar was dedicated to L. Borodkin's report ‘Russian Economy since the Abolition of Serfdom until 1917’, presented to introduce the group members to the literature on the economic development of Russia in the named period.

The specific issues addressed in the seminar were:

  • the general context of economic development: what is known in the literature about growth and industrial structure of the Russian economy in the given period;
  • main review papers and data sources of macroeconomic statistics;
  • questions and white spots about the given period discussed in Russian and international literature today.
Immediately after the seminar, participants were invited to drink a cup of tea, follow up on the seminar's issues and chat informally.
