What is the purpose of the Teaching Quality Assessment?

As you know, not only teachers assess students at HSE, but also students have an opportunity to assess the quality of their teachers’ work. Students get a chance to express their opinion on the teaching process organisation on educational programmes, assess the teaching quality, and provide their suggestions for individual courses.  Assessment results are taken into account by heads of faculties, departments and educational programmes for adjusting their employment policy and course curricula.

How is the assessment held?

The assessment form becomes available in a student’s personal LMS profile three weeks prior to the start of the examination period. Students are offered to assess the teaching quality of courses, for which they will get a grade based on the results of examinations in the final module or based on the interim assessment results that depend on the ongoing assessment. Lectures and seminars will be assessed separately.

How do I log into LMS?

To log into the personal LMS page, please follow the link http://lms.hse.ru/ and enter your login and password. Please see Reference materials to find out how to get access to your personal profile and what to do if you forgot your login or password.

Where can I find the Teaching Quality Assessment form in LMS?

After you enter login and password on the LMS main page, follow the link "Course Evaluation". The next step is to choose the module for the assessment of courses.

Will my responses be anonymous?

Yes, all responses are fully anonymous (please read this Note to see how the anonymity will be ensured). 
Only a summary of the assessment results will be provided to the heads of faculties and departments.

What should I do if I encounter problems when filling in the form?

If you have any problems with the form, please let us know by sending an email to lms@hse.ru  (please specify your programme and course title and describe the problem in your message). 
Please note that you can assess a course only if you are undertaking the final module in this course.  If you have no exams in any course of this module, you will be able to take part in the Teaching Quality Assessment at the end of the next module.
