Maria took 3rd place in the nomination «The best research work in Sociology for graduates and master`s students 2022».

Research work on the topic: «Employment of people with mental disabilities in the context of accompanied employment: conditions and motives for participation» was prepared under the scientific supervision of Elena R. Iarskaia-Smirnova, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, PhD, Head International Laboratory for Social Integration Research, Professor of the Department of Sociology of the Higher School of Economics.

The study was devoted to assisted employment and what meanings people with mental disabilities themselves put into employment by participating in the assisted employment program. The project presented the main models of assisted employment of people with disabilities and an overview of Russian practices of its implementation, on the basis of which the author's classification of assisted employment programs on a local basis was developed.

After the announcement of the results of the Competition, Maria Ivanova noted how surprised and excited she was, and, no doubt, very happy with the results of the Competition: «My supervisor, Elena R. Iarskaia-Smirnova, advised me to send the work to this competition. Without thinking for a long time, I supported the idea of Elena Rostislavovna and immediately began to "adapt" my master's thesis to the criteria of the competition, I was deeply immersed in this process. At the stage of loading the work, it was very exciting, because I knew that a huge number of students and graduates with interesting research were participating in the competition. But I really hoped that the work would be among the winners, and it happened! I am extremely glad that our research has received such a high expert assessment!»

It should be noted that many interns-researchers of our Laboratory annually take part in the Competition of students' research papers. For example, last year the winner of the Competition was Ekaterina Dolgova, who took 1st place in the nomination «The best research work in Sociology for graduates and master`s students 2021» with a work on the topic: «Social construction of disability: the experience of blind visitors to inclusive museum programs». Ekaterina's supervisor is Nikita Bolshakov, PhD in Sociology, Senior Research Fellow at the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Higher School of Economics.

We sincerely wish our research trainees the realization of their research plans and ideas, and new opportunities for participation and victories!
