AUD students presented their final projects
On June 8, students of the joint master’s programme ‘Advanced Urban Design’ organised by the GSU and the Strelka Institute defended their final projects
‘Advanced Urban Design’ is a unique international master’s degree programme launched by the HSE Graduate School of Urbanism and the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design in 2016-2018. On June 8, 2018 the programme graduates gave public presentations of their thesis projects at the Strelka Institute.
The educational process was built on the ‘research-based design’ methodology that involved tutors from the best world universities and practitioners of leading international firms. The students took part in field trips and international contests, and did intensive, interdisciplinary research. Their final projects were dedicated to a wide range of topics from alternative approaches to housing renovation in Moscow to developing new transportation systems in Sweden, in which they offered viable and sustainable urban solutions.
The projects were presented and defended in front of the examination board that included programme director Anastassia Smirnova, Habidatum CEO Alexei Novikov, TD Architects founder Theo Deutinger, HSE Graduate School of Urbanism Deputy Dean Vera Leonova, Hosoya Schaefer Architects co-founder Markus Schaefer, and GSU researcher Egor Kotov.
Congratulations to the graduates of ‘Advanced Urban Design’ master’s programme! We wish them good luck in their careers as urban planners and designers.
