Event ended

We invite you to take part in the round table «Violence in modern society and the fight against it». The round table is held in the framework of the regular seminar of the HSE Institute of Demography on the subject “Gender and Development” with the participation of invited guests from the NGO “Center for dealing with the problem of violence “Nasiliu.net” (Stop.Violence) and Consortium of Women’s NGOs.
Violence is one of the most crucial problems of modern society. Everywhere in the world we can see its most diverse manifestations. Every year more than a million people die on earth from incidents of violence. Even more people get injured. According to WHO estimates, every third woman is physically or sexually abused at least once in her life. In many countries, there is still no legislation criminalizing domestic violence. Gender issues are actively promoted or supported by non-profit organizations, representatives of one of which will speak at the round table. State programs and various types of violence will also be discussed.
