LEAH NODVIN (2016):
Studying at SSEES provided a program to hone my methodological research skills and deepen my understanding of the political and security concerns in Eastern Europe. Later, while studying in Moscow, I was able to put my regional knowledge into practice as well as further develop my language skills.
ZHUXIN MAO (2016):
I loved my first year in UCL, where I could pick the courses I was really interested in and developed my academic research abilities. The second year enabled me to explore another country and I was really impressed by the culture in Russia as well.
EMILY COUCH (2019):
"The two year IMESS programme allowed me to benefit both from the expertise of SSEES, and to study and work in Moscow. The year at HSE Moscow, during which time I interned at the Levada Centre and the Moscow times, was invaluable for gaining first hand knowledge of the post-soviet space. The academic and professional experience I gained on the IMESS programme were invaluable in helping me to build a career and I have since joined the National Endowment for Democracy where I focus on civil society in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. I have no doubt that I would not have this position were it not for my MA from SSEES."
