Prominent Scholars from University of London and London School of Economics Receive HSE Awards

On September 15, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov awarded medals and honorary certificates to prominent scholars from the University of London (UoL) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) at the 20th anniversary celebration of the ICEF HSE.

HSE President Alexander Shokhin and HSE Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin also took part in the ceremony.

‘We greatly appreciate our partnership with the University of London and the London School of Economics which has been in place for over 20 years. Moreover, we are enthusiastic about the prospects for further cooperation. I am very happy to present these awards on behalf of the Higher School of Economics to prominent scientists and professors for their contributions to the establishment and development of the ICEF and HSE, as well as for their outstanding accomplishments in research and education, both in the UK and Russia, and throughout world,’ said Yaroslav Kuzminov.

UoL Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Adrian Smith received the HSE Academic Honours Medal in recognition of the contributions made by the leadership of the University of London to the promotion of international cooperation and global education. Professor Smith is not only a renowned researcher in contemporary statistical methods but also the founder and supervisor of a whole range of innovative educational programmes and universities. In acknowledgement of these remarkable achievements, Professor Smith has been granted a knighthood by Her Majesty the Queen of the UK.

Furthermore, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the UoL International Programmes, Dr Mary Stiasny, has been awarded the HSE Rector’s Letter of Commendation. Dr Stiasny has played an essential role in the development of international educational programmes at UoL, as well as double degree programmes offered in collaboration with HSE.

In acknowledgement of his remarkable personal contribution to the development of cooperation with HSE, the Academic Honours Medal was awarded to LSE Pro-Director Professor Paul Kelly. Professor Kelly is a globally renowned researcher in political philosophy, as well as a reputable educator, whose efforts have helped bring HSE’s collaboration with LSE to a new level.

Professor Emeritus Richard Jackman has been supervising the ICEF Project on behalf of the London School of Economics for over 20 years. In appreciation of his outstanding contributions spanning over the years, Professor Jackman was awarded the HSE Academic Honours Medal. Professor Jackman is a prominent scholar of labour markets, and he has played a key role in establishing ICEF and enhancing its further development, both in terms of its educational programmes and building an effective international research team.
