Guided by Dmitry Kachalov and Kirill Chuiko as mentors, HSE 2 / ICEF team won  the Local stage of CFA Institute Research Challenge, the international financial modeling competition that competed on February 28.

The 10th Anniversary International Moscow Finance Conference organized by the ICEF Laboratory of Financial Economics, was held online in October 2021. At the end of the conference, Vladimir Sokolov, Head of the Laboratory and Associate Professor at ICEF, talked with Christian Juilliard, Research coordinator of the Laboratory and professor at LSE. In an interview Christian shared his impressions of LSE-ICEF cooperation, about digital fatigue and the interest in cryptocurrencies as an area of research.

Past August, ICEF hosted its Summer Bridge School in Financial Economics – a short-term programme intended for students admitted to ICEF Master’s Programme and for senior bachelor students who would like to prepare themselves for admission in subsequent year.

Despite the pandemic and the travel restrictions, HSE University continues to hire international faculty members. Runjie Geng, from China, joined HSE ICEF in 2020 as Assistant Professor. He spent the first semester working remotely and was only able to come to Moscow at the end of 2020. International faculty member talks about joining HSE University and getting used to life in Moscow.

Udara Peiris, Associate Professor of Finance at ICEF, hosted a webinar that dealt with how the toll of the COVID crisis on human lives has caused new financial risks and impacted the real economy. His analysis of the responses of governments, Central Banks, and financial regulators can shed more light on ways to get economies back on track.

Dean Fantazzini, Deputy Head of the Department of Econometrics and Mathematical Methods in Economics at Moscow School of Economics in Moscow State University and Visiting Scholar at the HSE ICEF, was the first foreigner to defend his DSc thesis at HSE University.
