Key learning outcomes:
CER-1 - Formulates the main components of the decision-making process: goal, options, constraints. Defines the data required for decision-making.
CER-2 - Uses qualitative, quantitative and mixed research methods adopted in the field of international business. Logically structures research and applied projects.
CER-3 - Develops recommendations for management in international companies. Applies consulting approaches to problem solving: Minto pyramid principle, SCQ, MECE.
CER-4 - Selects means for the analysis of the international environment. Understands key cultural contexts in the business environment. Develops strategies for adapting to new cultural contexts. Identifies acceptable negotiation solutions. Customizes client services, marketing strategies and management approach depending on the the business environment.
CER-5 - Develops recommendations for companies on international behavior strategies depending on the political and geo-economic situation. Applies modern communication technologies to establish cooperation between representatives of different economic ideologies.
CER-6 - Evaluates key digital indicators and KPIs. Selects the optimal strategy for the corresponding goal inbusiness environment.
Description of the professional field:

MIB program alumni сan pursue careers as executives, managers and consultants in international companies, or start their own businesses. Careers may focus on:

Unlike the standard MBA, which may lack the international perspective or has one function oriented curricula, our diversified program ensures that graduates understand not only how international companies work, but also the complex global context in which they operate.

In accordance with the Federal Educational Standard the alumni of 38.04.02 Management specialization shall acquire the following competencies:

1. Know: 
1.1. basic methodology of science;
1.2. special terminology, including English terms used in scientific communication;
1.3. scientific research conduct and management, as well as presentation of core research results; concepts, models and instruments of corporate structure, business strategy and functional strategy of an organization; 
1.4.  business environment and market models and analysis methods required for corporate strategy development;
2.Be able to:
2.1. conduct methodological evaluation of a specific approach or scientific theory in the field of management;
2.2. communicate professionally in oral and written forms using a foreign language;
2.3. formulate and test scientific hypotheses, choose and rationalize instruments in accordance with the managerial research problem;
2.4. use modern methods, techniques, instruments of development and implementation of a corporate strategy, business strategy and functional strategy of an organization;
2.5. evaluate long-term results of managerial activities.
3. Obtain:
3.1. abilities of critical scientific thinking;
3.2. organizational and research skills in the field of management; 
3.3. techniques for presentation and protection of research findings; 
3.4. negotiation skills for strategic decision making in uncertain conditions.

Description of educational modules:

The Master of International Business Program consists of the following elements:

Core courses form the foundation of skills and knowledge in the key areas of international business and international affairs. Core courses are obligatory and students take the core courses in their first year of study.

Elective courses allow students to customize their education to suit their own interests and career goals. Students take a total of five elective courses: one in the second semester and four in the third semester. Through elective courses students build the unique expertise and marketable skills in the areas of their choice.

  • Optional courses (Additional Program component): 6 ECTS credits (can be included in the total amount of ECTS for the program)

Students may choose to take an optional course as an additional component to their curriculum.

'International Business Consulting' is the program's key consulting project. In this course students do real-life consulting projects for participating international companies. 

  • Research Seminar: 15 ECTS credits (4 semesters)

The Research seminar is dedicated to the Term paper and Master Thesis preparation.Throughout a two-year comprehensive course students gradually learn how to search for, process and analyze data; conduct research for and write academic papers, and present research outcomes. The seminar includes two short courses: "Information and Library Culture" and "Introduction to Quantitative Methods". The course also features weekly topic-specific guest lectures and master-classes presented by the top-management of the program partner companies.

Options for Students with Disabilities

This degree programme of HSE University is adapted for students with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities.
