Report on SRH Summer School – Diversity

” We are all the same, but different!”

“Diversity is about all of us, and about us having to figure out how to walk through this world together” by Jacqueline Woodson

The program brought together 12 participates from 10 different countries which represent 3 continents (Africa, Asia and Europe). The participates where graduate students and some workers from United Nation. Lectures were given by professors and aspects of diversity with a special emphasis on the current refugee crises. The program also saw a roundtable discussion with the Major of Heidelberg Dr. Joachim Gerner (Department III) about the role of the countries and municipalities concerning refugees and asylum and also an excursion to LERNMOBIL, a non-governmental organization which act as advisors and assistance for refugees. As M.A student in Public Administration (Population and Development), the program had given me more knowledge on how to help migrants especially refugees to integrate into our society without facing any problem and also how to handle refugee’s crises. It has also given me more knowledge on how policy makers together with social organization can work together and help poor migrants and their children, and homeless and jobless migrants so as to reduce the number of criminal activities in a country.

Thanks to Higher School of Economics (HSE) and SRH University, Heidelberg for giving me this great knowledge and opportunity.
