VI International Summer School

During the first week of September the VI International Summer School "Measurement of volunteer activities: economic efficiency, social effects, and its impact into development of a country, regions, and municipalities" took place in Moscow . The event was organized by the Centre for Studies of Civil Society and Non-Profit Sector . Evgenia Fedorova, the student of the 2nd year 'Population and Development', shares her experience.

'It was an honor to be selected among one of the 32 participants. The majority of my school-mates were from different regions of Russia, but several persons came from abroad (Armenia, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan etc). And all these people that I have met during the School were either academic specialists or real practicians in the sphere of volunteering.

The program of the School (https://grans.hse.ru/)  consisted of many lectures about volunteering, seminars, discussions, and even cultural program like the visits to Mosvolonter, Moscow Numismatic Club, and tours to philanthropic places of Moscow.

Additionally to the theory and excursions, we also had a group research work under the supervision of an expert.  Our team included both Russian and international members, all of them were with an experience or knowledge about volunteering and civil society, thus we have chosen the topic "Motivation of volunteering as prosocial behavior: cross-cultural analysis". Our supervisor was Dr. Pamala Wiepking (https://www.erim.eur.nl/people/pamala-wiepking/), an assistant professor from Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam. That was a great pleasure and positive experience to work under the guidance of such an expert. She also gave an open seminar "Generous people, Generous nations: the results of global research on philanthropy" afterwards.

I am grateful to the Centre for Studies of Civil Society and Non-Profit Sector for this opportunity.  It gave me knowledge and inspiration for the development.'
