Our student, Ola Bamidele Emmanual, shares his experience of participating this conference.

This was my first time of travelling to another City in Russia out of Moscow and I am happy it was to the Nizhny Novgorod State University named after the great Russian Mathematician N.I. Lobachevsky (before whose portrait I stand in the attached picture). It was a great moment for to meet great and important members of the Russian Society of Sociologists and internationally renowned sociologists such as Natalia Lymar, and others who mostly participated in this “International Scientific-Practical Conference” held from in partnership with Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. It was an international conference involving renowned academics, researchers, social scientists and development researchers who were representatives of 18 countries (Russia – from 50 cities of the Russian federation, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, Algeria, Nigeria - myself), from 85 universities, 39 research centers, social institutions and NGOs and a huge number of audience. Languages of communication were mainly Russian, German, Dutch and English – every language was translated into Russian for the local Russians in attendance. The theme of the conference was - "TRANSFORMATION OF HUMAN POTENTIAL IN CONTEXT OF THE CENTURY”. It was a great time listening to the English-speaking Professor Zilstra Arthur whose paper entitled “Participation and Legitimation, New Labor Relations and Role Management of Human Resources” with focus on the UK system was quite interesting for me, and Dr. Natalia Lymar on “New Measurements of Social Communication”. Professor Ziltra showed the impediments in social mobility from lower class to the Upper Class in present UK society. These were in the plenary.
When it was my turn to present in the sessions, under Social Stratification, I presented a paper titled “Challenges in the Transformation of the Women Potentials in Sub-Saharan African Region: Evidence from Women Suffering IPV in Nigeria” in tandem with the theme of the Conference. I was provided a translator who translated to the audience in Russian. It was quiet interesting for me and all in attendance; questions were asked and relevant answers provided. This paper was immediately adopted for publication in the University journal. I received commendations on the interestingness of the paper from participants, Lecturers and Students in attendance after the session and made a couple of new friends from other countries in Europe and Asia.

I appreciate the NRU–HSE for posting information about this conference on the HSE website www.hse.ru/en, the Conference Committee at UNN Lobachevsky, My Academic Program Supervisor, Associate Professor Vladimir Alendrovich Kozlov, my Scientific Research Supervisor Associate Professor Isupova Olga and countless others at HSE Moscow and UNN Lobachevsky who made my participation a huge success that it was.
