The seminar devoted to Gender Issues in Humanitarian Actions organized by OxFam will take place November 19. The speaker is Edith Muluhya, Global Gender Adviser (Oxfam Global Humanitarian Team), lecture on Gender Issues. Also among the participants are students of “Population and Development” and “Political Analysis and Public Policy” programmes.

Summer School on Migration, Russian Red Cross
The summer school on migration, organized by the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Red Cross, gathered 30 enthusiastic students interested in migration processes and their impact on socio-economic, political and cultural changes in the world and modern Russia
Round table 'Violence in modern society and the fight against it' for the HSE master's students with the experts from "Nasiliu.net" ("Stop.Violence") and Consortium of Women’s NGO
On May 22, students of the Master's Program 'Population and Development' and and 'Comparative Social Research' took part in the round table 'Violence in the modern society and the fight against it' within the course 'Gender and Development'. Guest experts took part in the round table: founder and the director of the NGO 'Center for dealing with the problem of violence "Nasiliu.net" ("Stop.Violence")' and a lawyer from Consortium of Women’s NGOs Valentina Frolova.

On April 1st for the students of programme ‘Population and Development’ it was organized an open lecture ‘Surviving at the Edges: Adaptation to Climate Change and Natural Disasters in Bangladesh ‘ by prof. Hasan Shafie.
The workshops by Robert Gal, Hungarian Demographic Research Institute
At the end of November, Robert Gal, Senior Research Fellow at the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute, gave workshops for the students "Population and Development" on the National Transfer Account (NTA).
An interview with the representative of Oxfam
In October, Zorica Skakun, from Oxfam GB in Syria, led two workshops on various aspects of violence against women for students of the ‘Population and Development’ Master’s programme. During the workshops, Ms Skakun gave an overview of international frameworks, mandates, and programmes aimed to end violence against women (VAW) and help survivors in various settings, including conflict zones and refugee camps. The students were also offered a group exercise where they brainstormed and presented ideas for pre-project problem analysis and activities to combat VAW in Syria
Oxfam Workshop on Violence against Women
On October 3rd and 4th Zorica Skakun, a gender coordinator for Oxfam GB in Yemen who provides support and leadership to ensure women's rights, presented two workshops on various aspects of violence against women for students of the programme "Population and Development".
