Master's in Russian Studies was offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences at HSE-Univesity in 2020-2022. The programme aimed to train professionals with both a knowledge of the country’s rich history and cultural heritage, and the ability to comprehend its contemporary reality, with its achievements and problems, successes and challenges. The programme helped students coming from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds to learn to understand and analyze how Russia lives and works. The students have an unrivalled opportunity to try to unwrap at least some of this country’s mysteries.
Starting from 2021-2022 academic year, Russian Studies Master’s Programme is developing as ‘Russia in Comparative Perspective: Politics, Society, Cultures’ track within the Master's in ‘Politics. Economics. Philosophy’ (PEP) offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences.

What You Will Study
The Russian Studies programme offers courses from many disciplines, and our students can choose the curriculum suited to their academic interests. Russian language proficiency is not required for international students; a good command of English is enough. International certificates in English should be attached to portfolios. If you do not hold an international certificate, your English language proficiency will be checked via a Skype interview.
