Matteo Rigo, a student at Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt (Austria), said that he chose the course because he wanted to gain useful insights into the raising trend of Virtual Global Teams deployed by corporations to leverage distributed talent pools and optimize resources allocations. Though the course is designed primarily for IT students, lessons from it can be applicable to a broader range of industries. Mateo reported that he grew his knowledge of cultural, personal and business factors in the management of distributed teams, best practices in overcoming problems that may emerge in the optimizing teamwork, and how to best leverage the potential for collaboration. He was also impressed by the instructor’s deep understanding of the course material and unique perspective on virtual team management.
