Students of the Master's program "Data Analytics and Social Statistics" defended their final qualification works

On June 16–17, students of the Data Analytics and Social Statistics master's program defended their final theses. The State Examination Committee heard 22 theses.

  • Some of the research focused on the labor market and skills analysis: students examined the discrepancy between education attained and actual employment in the Moscow labor market, and also applied network analysis methods to map in-demand IT skills in the Russian and Japanese markets.
  • Several papers focused on scientometrics and the evolution of science. The authors examined how the disciplinary structure of Russian science has changed, how fragmented research areas are maturing using family businesses as an example, how scientists' interests are evolving in Google Scholar, and proposed a recommendation system for scientific collaboration based on HSE publication data.
  • A significant block of work focused on business and marketing analytics: students developed a Python framework for measuring the long-term impact of advertising, worked on customer segmentation for product development, and explored visual analytics as a decision support tool.
  • In the area of ​​discourse and media studies, the papers covered a comparison of keyword clustering results, the polarization of gender perceptions of romantic relationships among young people, and a comparison of how two national publications cover Chinese investment in Malaysia.
  • Work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and society stands out: one study assesses society's readiness for AI services in banking, while another uses a multimodal dataset to recognize fear.
  • Network methods formed the basis for studies of the averaged impact effect in multiplex networks and a knowledge graph construction system for the medical field.
  • Other topics include work on the infrastructure of Far Eastern ports using simulation modeling using the port of Sukhodol as an example, the prospects for decentralizing clinical trials in Russia, the impact of regional governor rotation on the career trajectories of mayors of administrative centers, the values ​​and destructors of top managers of Russian companies, and a demographic study of the birth rate in South Korea in relation to economic uncertainty and sociocultural change.
The final grades were distributed as follows: six papers received nine points, ten papers received eight points, four papers received seven points, and two papers received six points. The average score was 7.9.
