Expanding Opportunities – the opening of the "Data and Network Analytics" minor

Expanding Opportunities – the opening of the "Data and Network Analytics" minor

The two master's programmes, “Master of Data and Network Analytics” (MDNA) and  “Applied Statistics with Network Analysis” (MASNA), are launching the “Data and Network Analytics” minor, available to 2020 students. This is not just a minor that will immerse students in the full cycle of data management – collecting, organizing, storing, and analyzing all data types – but it is the first minor that will introduce students to network analytics. The need for network analysts is growing faster than the need for broader analysts.

The minor will cover the basic concepts and methods of analytics, focusing on network data work and social network modeling and analyzing network unstructured data. The following disciplines are offered as part of the minor:

·      "Introduction to Applied Statistics"

·      "Introduction to Analytical Programming"

·      "Introduction to Network Analytics"

·      "Advanced Network Analytics and Modeling"

The minor's main advantage is the applied nature of the training: no lectures and a focus on practical work. Students will be involved only in seminar classes, where they will not be proving formulas but will learn how to use the latest data analysis methods on real cases. Upon successful completion, students will have basic skills in working with all types of data and working with the most in-demand programming languages (R, Python) and the skills to build, estimate, and interpret statistical models of all levels of complexity.
