Year 2016 graduation for "Applied Social Psychology" students

7th and 8th of June were the determinant point for the 2014-2016 year students of Applied Social Psychology program – these two days were devoted to the final defenses of Master’s theses. After two years of theoretical and empirical research and two preliminary defenses, all of the fourteen works received excellent grades, and their authors – a degree of Master of Science.

The program aims to welcome the novelty in the performed studies, so the scientific fields chosen by the students for their research varied greatly. Presented studies touched on the predictors of face concern and face work, the structure of egocentric network, corruption acceptability among Ghanaians and Russians, charitable behavior of entrepreneurs, benevolent sexism, psychological well-being of African immigrants, predictors of religious fundamentalism, influence of individual values on literary creativity and many more areas of social psychology.

Many discussions and presentations during scientific seminars, coupled with commentary at preliminary defenses, allowed the students to polish their works until the final presentation for excellent results.

For now, many students of the group are thinking about pursuing an academic career. Andy Attah-Yeboah, Maria Bultseva, Alexander Titov and Bogdan Chuprikov plan on applying for their PhD, either in Moscow, or abroad. Right now, Alexander, Bogdan and Maria Klyass continue working at the International Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research at HSE as research interns, engaged in the media research and general work for the university and the lab. Vladimir Ponizovsky was accepted for a postgraduate program at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences after completing his 2nd year at Tilburg University. Some of our students are going for the practice field: Tamene Walga applied for a UNICEF internship, Anastasia Lysenko organizes training programs, and Marina Vylegzhanina writes journal articles from a socio-psychological standpoint.

Graduation ceremony will be held at 15.00 on June 23, room 227 (Volgogradsky Prospect, 46B).
