Lucas Adrián García - Ambassador of HSE University in China
From October 19 to 27, 2025, Lucas Adrián García, a second-year student of the Master’s Programme in Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy at HSE University and a Research Assistant at the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) took part in the Second Young Scholar Workshop and the Global Youth Development and Cultural Exchange Program held in three cities of China.
The initiative was organized by the World Sinology Center in partnership with the Council for Latin American Sinology and the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). The HSE International Admissions Office supported the participation of Lucas in the workshop that brought together young scholars from around the world for an immersive experience focused on academic exchange, cultural understanding, and international cooperation.
The workshop’s agenda covered three major cities: Shanghai, Qingdao, and Beijing, providing participants with the opportunity to engage with leading institutions and experts.
In Shanghai, Lucas attended the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, which gathered more than 3,000 participants from over 100 countries, including five Nobel laureates, prominent scientists, and government representatives. The conference served as a platform for dialogue on global innovation and talent cooperation.
In Qingdao, participants visited the World Sinology Center, where they attended academic sessions and exchanged perspectives on global research and education. During the visit, Lucas had an opportunity to meet Dr. Xu Baofeng, Director of the Center, and share with him information about HSE University, its international programmes, and its growing engagement in global academic cooperation.
Finally, in Beijing, the delegation participated in activities hosted by the Beijing Language and Culture University, including the Second Young Scholar Workshop and the Global Youth Development and Cultural Exchange Program, which fostered dialogue among emerging researchers and promoted cultural diplomacy.
Reflecting on his experience, Lucas Adrián García shared:
It was an honor to represent HSE University in such a meaningful international programme. This opportunity to exchange ideas with peers from diverse backgrounds and learn more about China’s approach to culture, science, and education was truly enriching. I am deeply grateful for the support provided by my faculty, ISSEK, and the HSE International Admissions Office, which made my participation possible.
Through his involvement, Lucas continues to strengthen HSE University’s international presence and contribute to the dialogue between young scholars, institutions, and cultures.
