HSE University Strengthens Academic Cooperation with China: Dr. Meissner Delivers Lectures at Tsinghua University and Keynote Speech in Guangzhou

During the last week of November 2025, Dr. Dirk Meissner, Distinguished Professor and Academic Supervisor of the Master’s Programme “Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy”, represented HSE University at two major academic events in China. His visit reinforced the programme’s international presence and highlighted its commitment to advancing international dialogue in science, technology and innovation (STI) management.

Lectures at Tsinghua University

Dr. Meissner delivered two lectures at the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions in the field of public policy. Welcomed by Prof. Yuan Zhou, he met with a group of 30 international students representing 16 countries. His lectures on “Research Design and Methods – Basics for Thesis Preparation” presented fundamental methodological principles for academic research and provided practical guidance for students beginning to work on their master’s theses. It encouraged discussion on developing research questions, selecting appropriate methods, and structuring analytical approaches in STI-related studies.

The visit further strengthened the long-standing cooperation between HSE University and Tsinghua University and emphasized the shared commitment of both institutions to high-quality education and international academic exchange.

 

Keynote speech at the Management of Technology Society Annual Conference

Dr. Meissner also participated in the annual conference of the Management of Technology (MOT) Society in Guangzhou, one of China’s most significant gatherings dedicated to technology management. The event brought together more than 500 participants, including scholars, industry leaders, policymakers, and innovation professionals.

As an invited keynote speaker, Dr. Meissner delivered a presentation titled “AI in Innovation Management”. His talk examined the growing influence of artificial intelligence on innovation processes, organizational decision-making, and the transformation of technological ecosystems. The lecture sparked discussions on how AI-driven tools and systems reshape management practices and the development trajectories of modern industries.

These collaborations reaffirm our commitment with excellence in education, research, and international cooperation and strengthen the global visibility of HSE University.
